The
Cat Power Tower™ is made from eco-friendly plantation Rubberwood, Sisal
and Mohawk EverStrand Carpet . (To learn more about these green
products, read on and click the links below) Rubberwood
is a hardwood with excellent furniture making characteristics. Unlike
other tree species that are harvested for the sole purpose of producing
wood products, rubberwood is not cut down until its latex producing
years have passed (typically 30 years). It stains beautifully and if
finished naturally, looks similar to maple. By choosing rubberwood as
the primary material to construct our product, we can offer our
customers high quality wood cat furniture while being environmentally
and socially responsible. But we didn't stop with just the wood.
Sisal was
chosen to cover the CPT scratching surfaces. Sisal carpeting has many
benefits that synthetic fiber carpets do not have. Sisal is sustainably
harvested, grows quickly and is, therefore, environmentally friendly.
Add a natural rubber backing, and the carpet is completely
biodegradable. Sisal carpeting is a great option for scratching
surfaces with its stain resistant and highly durable characteristics,
without the use of chemicals. Sisal carpet naturally repels dirt and
allergens, making it the perfect green option for cat owners who
believe in natural materials
Finally, we chose a green carpet for our play and lounging surfaces by selecting Mohawk EverStrand Carpet as the Cat Power Tower™ carpeting. EverStrand is 100% Post-Consumer Carpet Made From Recycled Plastic Bottles.
Almost
3 billion bottles are collected and made into EverStrand fiber every
year. PET (polyethylene terephtalate) fiber uses zero petrochemical
resources and offers superior performance and inherent stain resistance.
Because only the highest quality PET resins are FDA approved to make
food and beverage containers, the end result is that this recycled
product is actually superior to products made from virgin material.
